    Varthur is a suburb located on the Eastern side of the Bangalore City limits and is part of the Bangalore Urban District. It is a Hobli (a group of villages) forming part of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). It is also part of the renowned township, Whitefeild.

    The second phase of the metro project has extensive plans on connecting the areas beyond Baiyappanahalli that is a part of the current stretch of the Reach 3 and 3A. This would include areas like Kengeri, the Mysore Road and Varthur. This will create a radial structure in the Bangalore Metro network and reduce traffic congestion.

    The Varthur Lake contributes a great deal to property value in Varthur and extensive plans have been made to rehabilitate the lake for the supply of water. According to Comprehensive Development Plan 2015 (CDP), the SH 35 Road extending from Forum Value Mall to the Prestige Lakeside Project will be expanded to 45 metres near the Varthur Village and 30 metres near the Prestige Lakeside Habitat Project.
